Glentanar were on their travels again this weekend in the Inter Regional Cup to face a Whitehills side who suffered an 11-1 reverse a the hands of Forfar Albion last week in the Scottish Cup. Glens, who have recently struggled on the road were in buoyant mood following a 6-0 victory over Islavale, lined up in a familiar 4-4-2 formation. Returning to the starting line up following recent spells on the bench were Watson in at left back and Taft, who partnered last week?s hat-trick scorer Adams up front. Dines retained his spot at right back following a strong performance against Islavale.
Glens kicked off the game and signalled their intentions immediately, pushing forward at every opportunity, however it was the hosts who came close to opening the scoring after five minutes. A simply worked move out of defence released the Whitehills striker who out-stripped the Glens defence and shot early from 20 yards catching McLennan off his line, only to see his goal bound effort clawed around the post by the back-tracking keeper. This initial scare seemed to breathe life into Glentanar who poured pressure onto the Whitehill goal with little success. A brilliantly weighted corner by Adams was met by Leslie at the back post, who sent his header flashing across the face of goal with the keeper beaten. Wingers Sangbarani and the in-form Askew were causing the home side all kinds of problems and created several further opportunities and the combination of weak finishing, good goalkeeping and misfortune kept the score all-square. In the closing moments of the first half, a speculative cross-cum-shot from Watson from a full 40 yards out seemed destined for teh top right hand corner, only for the Whitehills keeper to turn it over the bar for a corner.
Glentanar emerged from the dressing room for the second half with the same purpose and drive as the first and they soon broke the deadlock with a fine move. Askew was released down the left and superbly cut the ball back to ADAMS in the centre who had the simplest of tasks to slot the ball low into the net. The Glens continued to push forward and again exploited the defensive frailties of Whitehills with another move started by one winger and finished by another. Sangbarani drove in front the right hand side and slid an inch-perfect pass across the face of goal which evaded two Glentanar players but was emphatically fired home by ASKEW. Glentanar?s 3rd goal again came from a well worked move from a corner. Thompson, Leslie and substitute Strachan stormed into the six yard area as a corner was swung in from the left, leaving the Whitehills defence turning on their heels. It was LESLIE who rose highest and delivered the coup-de-grace, powering a downward header home for his second goal of the season. The home side briefly rallied but were unable to break down the visitors resolute defence and shortly before the final whistle, new signing MORRICE got on the score sheet when the ball broke to him 14 yards around and he duly thumped the ball into the far right hand corner for his first goal in only his second appearance for Glentanar. Morrison came within inches of doubling his Glentanar account in the last 5 minutes when good interplay with Askew and Rennie released the substitute who struck the bottom of the left hand post with the keeper beaten. Final score Whitehills 0-4 Glentanar.
A fine result for a hardworking Glentanar side sees the clubs cup bandwagon roll on to the next round.

The match itself was in doubt before the kick-off as the wind whistled down the pitch, leaving the referee swithering if he would allow the game to go ahead.
Forres Thistle, with the wind at their backs in the first half, dominated the game territorially. Their first effort on goal came in the fourth minute with Mark Pennie warming the keeper's hands.
Alan Angus was the next to test the stopper before a good effort from Davie McIvor zipped just over the bar.
The pressure finally told at the mid point in the half when a corner from McIvor wasn't properly cleared and Lee Davidson was on hand to fire the ball home from close range.
Jordan Robertson nearly marked his return with a goal, striking a wonderful effort towards the top right hand corner of the net, but his shot was matched by the save from keeper McLennan.
Glentanar themselves had only a couple of breakaways in the first half, Simon Bremner looking alert to save at the feet of Deans before watching a Leslie shot fly past the post.
Meanwhile, McLennan was at it again, making another great save, this time to deny Davie McIvor's effort from a free kick which looked destined for the postage stamp corner of the net.
With no let up in the conditions in the second half, the game remained in the same half, however, this time it was Glentanar who were on top. Their only return was a leveller on the hour mark, Leslie following up on Lee Adam's spilled free-kick, to net from eight yards.
Forres had one chance to snatch the three points, with five minutes remaining, when the ball found it's way to Alan Angus, but his shot flew over the bar to ensure the game ended all square.
